Ahmad Saeed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, Dina Mattar, and Manal Mahamid were selected for the ‘Artist Commissions in Cultural Sites’ programme at Abu Dhabi Art 2024.
ArtDayME: Each year, Abu Dhabi Art invites established and well-known artists to create site-specific works in historic sites in Al Ain and the wider Abu Dhabi emirate, to activate these sites and draw new audiences to them.
Ahmad Saeed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, Dina Mattar, and Manal Mahamid were selected for the ‘Artist Commissions in Cultural Sites’ programme at Abu Dhabi Art 2024.
Ahmad Saeed Al Areef Al Dhaheri’s work Lady Lioness at Al Jahili encompasses a series on the Arabian gazelle, exploring the surrounding living culture to highlight the notion that traditions and heritage transcend time. It was exhibited at Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain.
Dina Mattar’s work Gazelle’s Hoof at the Al Jahili Fort, Al Ain represents the Emirati gazelle alongside a beautiful and important plant that contains pink and white flowers called the gazelle heel.
Manal Mahamid’s commission is a sculpture of a Gazellla Gazella, also known as the Palestinian Gazelle in a leaping pose, situated in Al Ain Oasis.
The installations will remain on display at their respective locations until 21 January, 2025.
