ArtDayMe: Azadeh Jafarian: From vibrant hues to evocative compositions, *Colour Gives Me Life* invites audiences on a journey into the transformative world of color. Hosted by the Firetti Contemporary in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue, this groundbreaking exhibition, running from December 7, 2024, to February 7, 2025, brings together seven international artists who explore how color shapes emotion, memory, and meaning.

Through their dynamic works of Ludmilla Radchenko, Rachel K, Ihab Ahmad, Laurent Perbos, Yana Abramova, Siamak Azmi, and Samuele Ventanni group exhibition challenges perceptions and celebrates color as an essential force in both art and life.

More than a mere visual spectacle, *Colour Gives Me Life* explores the dynamic interplay between color, imagination, and memory. It demonstrates how color serves as a universal language capable of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. This curated collection elevates the viewers’ experience, using color as a narrative device to inspire reflection and connection.

"Peace Please" by Ludmilla Radchenko

Among the standout pieces in this exhibition is Ludmilla Radchenko’s *Peace Please* (2022), a work that embodies her unique artistic ethos. Radchenko’s signature anarchic brushwork and digital collage techniques combine to create a visually striking and intellectually rich piece. This acrylic and resin work on linen not only dazzles with its bold color palette but also confronts complex global issues with a touch of irony.

At first glance, *Peace Please* appears as a vibrant homage to Pop Art traditions. A distorted bottle cap resembling the Pepsi-Cola logo—reimagined as “Perla-Cola”—dominates the composition, accompanied by a cartoon figure adorned with American patriotic symbols. The humorous and accessible imagery, however, belies the painting’s deeper message. Radchenko critiques consumerism, global capitalism, and their role in perpetuating societal contradictions.

The accompanying text, including phrases like “Close Affairs Before Striking” and “An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind,” reinforces the painting’s anti-violence narrative. The juxtaposition of playful visuals with serious social commentary challenges viewers to reflect on the tension between entertainment culture and pressing global issues such as peace and conflict.

Radchenko’s work draws heavily from her Pop Art influences, but her approach diverges from traditional Pop Art figures like Andy Warhol. While Warhol often maintained neutrality in his commentary, Radchenko’s art is laden with personal and political narratives, reflecting her own experiences and insights. Her ability to blend traditional and digital art techniques adds another layer of depth, bridging the gap between analog artistry and modern innovation.
