22nd Tehran Auction Art Sale Totals $2.6 Million | Photos
ArtDayME: Dedicated to modern, classical, and traditional Iranian art, the 22nd edition of the Tehran Auction took place at the Parsian Azadi Hotel in Tehran on February 15, 2025. With a total sale of $2,643,753 it set a record for the Iranian art market.
Among the 99 pieces offered at the Tehran Auction were works by modernist painters, who are well-known in the Iranian art market, as well as a number of artworks by notable traditional artists and Iranian classical masters. A noteworthy record for the Iranian art market was ultimately set when 84 of these pieces were sold and 15 were not.
53 pieces were ultimately hammered for billions of Tomans during the 22nd Tehran Auction, which featured 44 pieces valued at an estimated billion Tomans.
Reza Abbasi's painting “Portrait of a Seated Girl,” which sold for $264,000, set the auction record. Second place went to two pairs of Hossein Alaghmandan's Qalamzani candlesticks, which auctioned for $134,588. The auction's third record holders were the paintings “Genesis” by Mahmoud Farshchian and “Forgiveness” by Wahed Khakdan, both of which sold for $121,647.
Ten Iranian modern, classical, and traditional pieces sold for more than $58,823 at the auction; 39 pieces sold for between $11,764 and $58,823; 19 pieces sold for between $5,882 and $11,764; and 12 pieces sold for less than $5,882.
Shahryar Rabbani conducted the 22nd edition of the Tehran Auction. A total of 84 pieces were auctioned off, comprising 69 paintings, 10 calligraphy, 9 sculptures and metal engravings, 6 manuscript art, and 6 pictorial carpets.
