Commissioned by the Barjeel Art Foundation in Sharjah, the painting will be on public display at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah until the end of Ramadan and will later be transferred to the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization.

ArtDayME: The Barjeel Art Foundation unveils "A Wonderful World" (2024), a new commission by Iraqi artist Afifa Aleiby.

Conceived as a companion to Mahmoud Hammad’s "Muslim Scientists" (1988), it honours sixteen pioneering women of the Islamic civilisation, celebrating their legacy in the arts, sciences, and public life.

Exhibited at the House of Wisdom for the holy month of Ramadan, the two paintings bring scholars like Ibn Rushd, Ibn Sina, Rufaida Al-Aslamia, and Ulayya bint al-Mahdi into dialogue, serving as a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of these intellectuals—both men and women—on Islamic history.
