Roshanak Sattari and "Woman in Minimal Silence" with Vesta Colors
The goal of a collaborative effort between Vesta Color and Mojdeh Art Gallery is to foster artistic abilities and create a fresh artistic environment that advances the field of art. One of the project participants, Roshanak Sattari , is a young artist who used a variety of Vesta Color products to produce a piece that she then presented to the brand. For this piece, she employed a variety of Vesta Color materials.
ArtDayMe : Vesta Color and Mojdeh Art Gallery's combined endeavor aims to foster artistic abilities and offer a fresh creative setting that encourages the growth of art.
Roshanak Sattari, a painter who has had successful artistic endeavors not only in Iran but also in Southeast Asia, is participating in this project. As part of this project, she has created a piece using a variety of Vesta paint products and has presented it to the Vesta Paint Company.
This artwork, part of the series *Women in Minimal Silence*, was created using a combination of Vesta oil and acrylic paints on canvas, measuring 100 x 80 centimeters.
On this occasion, we had a interview with this artist.
_Please give us a quick summary of your artistic background.
Roshanak Sattari : I was born in 1979 in Tehran and have been professionally active in the field of painting for over twenty years. I completed my academic studies in the field of graphic design and benefitted from the knowledge and experience of prominent painting and design instructors along the way.
Throughout my artistic career, my works have been showcased in numerous group exhibitions both in Iran and abroad, including galleries such as Atashzad, Shirazi, and international exhibitions in East Asian countries.
I have also experienced teaching design and painting in Iran and other countries, participating in many domestic and international workshops, particularly in Thailand.
In my works, I incorporate Iranian lines, motifs, and elements alongside figures, always striving to create an innovative connection between tradition and modernity.
In addition to painting, I engage in sculpture using papier-mâché techniques and also design and create artistic jewelry (wearable sculptures). These collections are inspired by old Iranian stamps combined with papier-mâché, aiming to make art more practical and tangible in everyday life.
_Could you provide more details about your collections and artistic processes?
Roshanak Sattari: I have two notable series in my artistic portfolio, “The Imaginary Birds” (2016) and “Woman in Minimal Silence.”
The series “The Imaginary Birds” (2016) is inspired by birds and has a surrealist perspective. The works in this collection are created with oil paint on wood in small and medium dimensions. Nature has always been one of my sources of inspiration, as I consider it the unmatched master of art. In this series, birds are not only visual subjects but also symbols of freedom, release, and imagination.
In the series “Woman in Minimal Silence,” women serve as the central focus, but unlike my previous works, the execution technique leans toward simplicity and minimalism. While conceptually the works still retain a surrealist aspect, visually they shift away from the usual complexities of this style, moving toward a more abstract and minimal expression.
_What collection are you working on right now?
Roshanak Sattari : The series I am currently working on is the result of my experiences, concerns, and a fresh perspective on art that has evolved within me in recent years. In this collection, the figurative element still plays a key role, but the form, color, and composition have undergone changes compared to my previous works.
The human figure remains essential but is now presented with a different approach and newer conceptual layers. In this series, I focus more than ever on creating a mysterious atmosphere, aiming for the viewer to engage and uncover the story behind each character on the canvas.
_ What are your top priorities for the future?
Roshanak Sattari : The ultimate goal of this collection is to present it as a solo exhibition. For me, the exhibition is not just an opportunity to showcase my works but also a chance to connect with the audience and receive fresh feedback.
I have already started planning for this exhibition, from selecting and finalizing the works to searching for a suitable space and presentation style that best conveys the feeling and concept of the artworks. In addition to preparing this collection, I aim to explore and gain more experience to develop a more personal language in my art. Each collection I have worked on has been a stage of inner growth and discovery, and this journey continues.
_Explain the piece of art you created for the partnership between Vesta Color and Mojdeh Art Gallery.
Roshanak Sattari : This piece from the series “Woman in Minimal Silence” is created using oil and acrylic Vesta colors. It is a portrait of a woman seated on a chair in a lush, serene environment. The combination of colors and the execution technique reflects a realistic style with poetic and emotional elements.
The contrast between the woman's dark clothing and the background filled with fine greenery emphasizes her presence in the environment, reflecting a sense of thought or contemplation in her expression.
A house hidden among the foliage in the background may hold symbolic meaning. The dark sky above, combined with the natural setting and warm tones, conveys a sense of calmness mixed with sorrow or anticipation.
_How long have you been aware of Vesta Color's offerings?
Roshanak Sattari : My first experience with Vesta products was working with their acrylic colors. What immediately caught my attention was the strong pigmentation and color transparency. This feature allowed the colors to remain vivid and transparent even when combined, resulting in a visually vibrant and deep final work.
Additionally, the coverage and fluidity of the colors were particularly important to me, and I found these characteristics well-represented in Vesta's colors. Another positive aspect is their suitable drying speed, which made it easier for me to layer and add details during the creative process.
_ If you could only provide one of Vesta's items to other artists, which would you choose?
Roshanak Sattari : My choice is Vesta acrylic colors. The main reason for this choice is their high quality, suitable coverage, strong pigmentation, and adaptability to different painting styles and techniques. However, alongside acrylic colors, other Vesta products such as turpentine, linseed oil, and some oil colors also possess good quality and can be suitable options for professional painters.
_ How do you feel about Vesta Color and Mojdeh Art Gallery's collaboration project?
Roshanak Sattari : The project defined between Vesta colors and Mojdeh Gallery is a valuable and intelligent collaboration that can mutually create significant opportunities for both the Vesta brand and participating artists.
This project not only strengthens Vesta’s position among professional artists but also provides an opportunity for painters to showcase their works in a reputable setting.
One of the most important aspects of this project is collecting artworks created with Vesta colors to display in the brand's museum. This initiative establishes Vesta’s visual identity and confirms its quality. When an art brand presents documented examples of its products’ impact on creating valuable works, it enhances the artistic community’s trust.
Mojdeh Art Gallery, as one of the well-known and influential galleries in the art scene, serves as an ideal platform for presenting this project. Artists participating in this gallery have the opportunity not only to create works using high-quality materials but also to showcase them in a professional and reputable environment.
If this project is managed properly, it can become a transformative movement in the future of Iranian art. Establishing the Vesta Colors Museum and showcasing works created with these colors in various exhibitions will not only solidify Vesta's name in the art world but also initiate an artistic movement. This could lead to the creation of remarkable artworks and document the impact of this brand on Iranian art.
