The gallery presents two distinct exhibitions across the Kabinett and Galleries sectors.
In ‘Kabinett’, Lawrie Shabibi showcases a solo exhibition by Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, one of the UAE’s pioneering contemporary artists. Deeply rooted in his birthplace of Khorfakkan, Ibrahim’s practice explores memory, environment, and perception through repetitive organic forms rendered in black-and-white and vibrant hues. His presentation features paintings and papier-mâché sculptures, where humble materials like cardboard and string transform into meditative, plant-like motifs that oscillate between playfulness and introspection.
Meanwhile, in ‘Galleries’, Lawrie Shabibi features works by Hamra Abbas, Shaikha Al Mazrou, and Nabil Nahas, uniting diverse cultural perspectives. Abbas' intricate wall sculptures explore material histories. Al Mazrou's steel forms transform paper-like folds into monumentality, and Nahas' textured paintings fuse nature and Islamic geometry into immersive abstractions.
you can see these two exhibitions at Booth 3C16 at Art Basel Hong Kong until 30 March.
