Organized by Sharjah Art Foundation as part of its Fall 2024 program, both exhibitions showcase diverse works by two international artists who express themselves through various artistic disciplines such as storytelling, visual and audio performances.
Featured this autumn are the first survey exhibition of Māori artist Emily Karaka, a travelling exhibition of deeply poetic works by French-Moroccan artist Bouchra Khalili, the first solo exhibition focusing on the theatre practice of renowned South African artist William Kentridge and a retrospective of works by Brazilian artist Antonio Dias.

I first became acquainted with Master Abdulqader Al Rais, a renowned Emirati painter, through Christie's auction catalogs from 2007 to 2008 and beyond. An all-female panel of five leaders in their fields have been given the task of bringing together the contemporary artworks and artists that will steer the discourse around SB16, with Sheikha Hoor al Qasimi at the helm as Biennial Director and President of the Sharjah Art Foundation.
