Artdayme: Alserkal Initiatives’ founder, Abdelmonem Alserkal has been bestowed the distinction of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Letters (Order of the Arts and the Letters) as chevalier (“knight”), awarded by the French Ministry of Culture.

Presented last night by His Excellency Nicolas Niemtchinow Ambassador of France to the United Arab Emirates, the decoration recognises Abdelmonem and the Alserkal family’s longstanding efforts and commitment to the arts.

Abdelmonem in his acceptance remarks has highlighted the importance of the community that have supported us over the years and the promise of the future, he noted Personally, I believe that this honour is not just an acknowledgement of our contribution to arts and culture in the UAE. But it represents a promise of everything we can still accomplish.
